Last night, ADFEST wrapped up for another year with the 21
st Lotus Awards with the unveiling of this year’s Special Awards winners.
TBWA\Hakuhodo, Tokyo was named Agency of the Year 2018
and Choojai & Friends, Bangkok picked up the award for Independent Agency of the Year.
Dentsu was named Network of the Year, with 5 offices entering the Lotus Awards from Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Melbourne, Mumbai, Osaka, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo.
The Digital Agency of the Year is
R/GA Sydney, while Direct & Promo Agency of the Year is
McCann Worldgroup India, Mumbai.
Meanwhile, Production Company of the Year was awarded to
Tohokushinsha Film Corporation, Tokyo, and Advertiser of the Year was presented to
Ministry of Public Health, Afghanistan. ADFEST also announced the Lotus Grande for Humanity, recognising excellence in Public Services & Cause Appeals sector.
Dentsu Inc., Tokyo was this important accolade for its disaster prevention “Emergency Collectibles” campaign, which won “Best Use of Print” in the Press Lotus category.
Grand Jury President, Joyce King Thomas, who is Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of McCann XBC, New York, said: “This [piece of print] was beautifully done, but the most interesting thing about it was how it provoked a conversation and got families to sit down and talk about what they would pack for an emergency. It’s a very important issue in Japan, where earthquakes can be felt in Tokyo every month”.
