Kicking off tomorrow, ADFEST 2018 looks to be bigger than ever with an assortment of talented speakers and workshops.
ADFEST 2018 begins with the first ever INNOVA Shortlist Presentation where each company’s representatives will present their work in person to the Jury Presidents. This could be a high-pressure ordeal with tough Jury Presidents Saharath Sawadatikom, Melvin Mangada, Derry Simpson, Timo Mitsuaki Otsuki, Levi Slavin, Kitty Lun, Santosh Padhi and Joyce King Thomas.
King Thomas, this year’s Grand Jury President, explains this year’s judging process: “What we’re really trying to do as judges is pull the work apart. To really separate the stuff that is ordinary and should not win, and then single out the extremely innovative work that stands apart.”
You can mingle with these all-stars Wednesday night at the Grand Pool Patio party, from 6pm.
On Thursday 22nd March at 11:30am, see the works of the Fabulous Four 2018 directors. This year’s directors are Haruna Kaizuka, Huixin Law, Shuhei Murata and Thuy Vy whose 5-minute short films are sure to be compelling.
Tech is more prevalent than ever and this year’s speakers seem to agree. Several events covering tech include Greg Attwell’s session on female technologists, Adams Fan’s ‘Chinese Tech Revolution’, Rafael Guida’s session on mobile storytelling, as well as Jax Jung’s ‘Tech, your new BFF.’
If you’re keen to understand how music is used in modern advertising, Tamon Fujumi of MassiveMusic, Nick Wood of SYN Music and Joseph Kahn of AOI Pro are lending their expertise as well.
There are some exciting workshops taking place this year as well to help hone your skills. We are lucky to have Kitty Lun, Steve Davies, Christian Mix-Linzer, Tim Lindsay and Ithyle Griffiths show us hands-on how they’ve become masters in the industry.
Of course, we’re all aching to find out who wins at this year’s Lotus Awards, which will be presented Friday and Saturday evening at 6pm.
Top off your week with the after-party at the Infini Pool. Last year’s surprise musical guest was the incredible Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band. Don’t miss this year’s!
