ADFEST TO ANNOUNCE NEW 2010 DATES SOON

BANGKOK: The ADFEST Working Committee is currently assessing alternative dates for ADFEST 2010, which is likely to be rescheduled to take place in May 2010.

“We are working hard to reschedule ADFEST – hopefully in late May 2010. ADFEST has a reputation as a fun, enjoyable and professionally-run event. If we opened on the original dates and events took a turn for the worse, the goodwill that has been built up over the years would be compromised,” says Vinit Suraphongchai, Chairman of the ADFEST Working Committee.

On 26 February 2010, the ADFEST Working Committee announced a postponement of ADFEST, which was originally scheduled to take place on 18-20th March 2010. The postponement follows news of a planned political rally in Thailand on 14th March, which is expected to attract up to one million people to Bangkok.

“We have been very touched by the kind support and concerned responses we have received from many of our friends in the region,” says Suraphongchai.

Mr. Senyon Kim represents the Korean Advertising Association on the ADFEST Steering Committee, and says: “I believe that it was the hardest decision you have ever made as the ADFEST management. With regard to the current situation in Thailand, I fully support your decision: you are the best judge in taking the necessary and preventive measures. With my best wishes for the prompt return to normal, I take this opportunity to assure you and your hard-working staff members my regards and sympathies.”

Indra Abidin, President & Director at Fortune Indonesia and World President Chairman of the International Advertising Association (IAA), agrees: “I sincerely sympathize with the situation in Thailand, and hope the authorities will secure the safety of all the people, and conditions will return to normal. I stand by and support all decisions you take for the best interest of ADFEST. I pray for the wellbeing and safety for you, your family and all working committee,” he says.

ADFEST is currently working with hotels and airlines to minimize any problems that may arise when rearranging an event.

Any delegates who have already booked flights and accommodation in Thailand should contact ADFEST via kem@adfest.com , who will endeavor to help find the best outcome.
