SPEAKERS: ROLL UP! ROLL UP! CIRKUS IS COMING TO ADFEST 2012
On Monday, March 19th 2012 at 10.00-12.00,Cirkus will host the "Get Creative with your Mind and Money, play the Cirkus’ Animation Game” workshop where delegates can register invited to play the Cirkus Animation Game.

Ringmaster Marko Klijn, Executive Producer at Cirkus in Auckland, will visualize the production limitations and possibilities available within a limited timeline and budget, showcasing alternative methods and “shortcuts by design” that will allow agencies to arrive at the best quality production within their project requirements.


“We all want great commercials but sometimes expectations impact heavily on the quality of output,” says Klijn. “We have created the Cirkus Animation Game to teach people how to build a unique commercial by mixing animation styles and techniques. In a Cirkus anything goes, and we love breaking the rules.”


After Klijn’s introductory talk, delegates will be placed in teams and assigned a client, creative brief and “animation money”, then it's all hands on deck for the Cirkus Animation Game.


“Can you afford one character or two? Will you use live action, background plates or animation only.... It’s all up to you! The team that stays within budget with the choicest creative wins,” says Klijn.


Klijn proclaimed himself Ringmaster of Cirkus upon its formation back in 2006. He has been active in the Commercial Animation industry for about 15 years, and is passionate about storytelling, design, character animation and mixed media.


“The great thing about the Cirkus workshop is that delegates can work and be creative with other delegates they haven't met yet, while learning about budgets for animated commercials. It’s highly interactive, and the topic ties in perfectly with the theme of ADFEST 2012, ‘Fast Forward’, because it teaches people practical skills they can apply back in the workplace to get ahead,” says Jimmy Lam, ADFEST President.
