SPEAKERS: CONVINCING THE SKEPTICAL THE MILL’S ROBIN SHENFIELD JOINS ADFEST’S LINE-UP OF SPEAKERS
LONDON: Robin Shenfield, co-founder of acclaimed post production house The Mill, is traveling to ADFEST 2012 to present a Speaker Session titled ‘Convincing the Skeptical’.


The Mill is an Academy Award-winning production company, famous for designing some of the world’s most visually distinct TV commercials. The company launched in 1990, and its founding partners included members of Irish rock band U2.


In 2001, The Mill won an Oscar for its work on Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott, becoming the first company outside Hollywood to win an Academy Award for visual effects. The Mill has also won several BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) for its work on television dramas Doctor Who and Merlin.


“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to present at ADFEST and meet professionals from one of the most dynamic advertising markets in the world.It’s clear that, by bringing such an interesting group of professionals together, ADFEST provides a unique window into our fast-changing business,” says Shenfield. “I believe I have some valuable experiences to share, but have even more to learn!”


The Mill has been creating world-class visual effects for over 21 years, with offices in London, New York, Los Angeles and Singapore.
At ADFEST 2012, Shenfield will showcase some of The Mill’s best work, and discuss the challenge of engaging audiences who are far more critical and media-savvy than they were even two or three years ago.


“I will endeavour to show how The Mill’s skill in visual effects and digital production can be used to help produce creative and engaging work across all media and for both big and small budgets,” he says.


Over the next few weeks, ADFEST will unveil an inspirational line-up of Speakers, which include some of the world’s most influential creative professionals from a diverse mix of sectors including advertising, film, marketing and gaming.


“ADFEST has se lected a line-up of Speakers who possess very different perspectives on creativity, from filmmakers to musicians and advertising creative – it promises to be one of the most inspiring Festivals in ADFEST’s history,” says ADFEST President Jimmy Lam.
