BBDO Guerrero
Manila

David Guerrero is the founder and Creative Chair of BBDO Guerrero in the Philippines. The company just celebrated its 25th birthday and is one of the most consistently awarded agencies in the region. Among its best-known campaigns is the WARC Grand-Prix winning global tourism push for the country “It’s more fun in the Philippines.” A campaign for P&G’s Pantene tackled the issue of gender-based inequality in the workplace, was recognized by UN Women in New York, and won the ADFEST Effectiveness Grand Prix. Most recently the agency designed a zero-plastic shampoo bar called “The dissolving bottle” which in a first-of-its-kind partnership has just gone on sale in the EU.

David started his career in the UK, working alphabetically through his options and discovering that advertising came quite early on after accountancy. Fortunately, it worked out OK, and after working in both London and Hong Kong he found his way to the Philippines where people didn’t struggle to spell his last name. He is regularly invited to judge in the world’s award shows, including Cannes - where he was the first jury president from South East Asia.

Outside of advertising, David is a recent Harvard graduate with an MLA in Creative Writing and Literature. He first visited the campus to attend his graduation and was treated to an inspirational speech by the most-trusted person in America: Tom Hanks. David’s recent book on creativity “You have to go through a lot of crap to get to good ideas” sold out its first, admittedly modest, printing. And has been nominated for a 2024 National Book Award in the Philippines. He also presented a documentary “When the Beatles didn’t meet Imelda” for the BBC World Service in 2021.
